Anti-Semites Burn U.S. Flag, Raise Palestinian Flag
A huge group of anti-American, anti-Semite protestors and rioters burned the American flag Wednesday while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the U.S, Politico reported.
“Pro-terror, anti-Israel agitators are vandalizing federal property, removing American flags, and replacing them with Palestinian flags steps away from the United States Capitol,” Republican Wyoming Senator John Barrasso wrote on social media. “This is inexcusable, and I expect them to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
“Hamas flags, slogans about killing Jews, harassment of @CapitolPolice officers, vandalism, burnt American flags, & hanged effigies of PM Netanyahu. These are just some of the appalling scenes at protests around the U.S. Capitol today,” Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul wrote. “This vitriolic behavior goes beyond peaceful protests and free speech. It will only further incite violence. Our nation’s leaders on both sides of the aisle must fully denounce this ugly, pro-Hamas extremism and make clear that antisemitism has no place in America,” McCaul added.
Who Else Commented On The Attacks?
“Demonstrators covered their faces, waved signs with anti-Semitic tropes, burned an effigy of Netanyahu, implied on camera they wished to do violence upon his person, and graffitied praise for a terrorist group onto U.S. government property. If they had been consciously trying to imitate the KKK, there is little more they could have done,” Washington Stand writer Joshua Arnold wrote in his analysis of the events.
Several protestors were arrested and charged with federal crimes following their actions, according to Times of Israel. At least three people were charged with attempting to carry a dangerous weapon, three with attempted theft, and one person was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer.
