Courage for the Unknown: Walking Forward with God

Jul 6, 2025

Life often calls us to walk into the unknown—new responsibilities, sudden changes, or challenges that feel bigger than our strength. In moments like these, God’s words to Israel through Moses echo with power and tenderness: “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God goes with you” (Deuteronomy 31:6). This wasn’t a command to muster up inner strength, but an invitation to trust in the faithful presence of God. He wasn’t sending His people out alone; He was promising to go with them. And He promises the same to us.

When fear whispers that we’re not enough or that the road ahead is too uncertain, we can hold fast to this truth: God never abandons His children. His presence is our courage. Even when we feel shaken, He remains steady. As we step forward today, whether into a difficult conversation, a new beginning, or a quiet waiting place, we can move in confidence—not because we know the future, but because we know the One who walks beside us.

Your Call to Action

Today, take time to reflect on what fear may be holding you back—Is it a decision you’re avoiding? A conversation you’re dreading? A step of faith you’ve delayed? Whatever it is, remember that courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear; it means choosing to move forward despite it, because you trust the One who goes with you. Write down the promise of Deuteronomy 31:6 and keep it where you’ll see it often. When fear rises, speak it aloud and let it remind you that you are not alone. God doesn’t call you to be brave in your own strength—He promises His unshakable presence every step of the way. Choose faith over fear today, not because you feel strong, but because He is.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid” (Psalm 56:3-4).

Prayer

Father, when fear tries to take hold of my heart, remind me that You are with me. I don’t walk alone—you go before me, beside me, and behind me. Give me the courage to face the day with confidence in Your unshakable presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
