Don’t Be A ‘Jerk For Jesus,’ Says Evangelist

Evangelist Shane Pruitt posted a now-viral video on Facebook in late Oct. that we think everyone should listen to as we move into the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

“The world has been bullying the Church into silence on certain issues because the world wants to dominate that conversation” for a very long time, Pruitt told his followers. “They’ll tell the Church ‘Hey, you can’t speak on that, that’s a political issue and you’re being too political.’”

“However, you need to realize there are certain things that were biblical truths way before they were ever political statements,” such as abortion, continued Pruitt. (READ: ‘She Let The Holy Spirit Cook’: Gen Z Bible Goes Viral)

Don’t Be A Jerk

“Nowhere in the Bible does it give us an excuse to be a jerk for Jesus but it also doesn’t give us an excuse to be a coward for Christ,” Pruitt continued. “We always talk about needing a heart for Christianity and a heart for ministry. Yes, we need a heart but sometimes, we need a spine and a backbone, too.”

While he did not mention the 2024 election specifically, his comments came less than a week before President-elect Donald Trump won reelection. (READ: Donald Trump Wins Reelection)

A similar sentiment to Pruitt’s was shared by Chrissie Mayr podcast producer (and husband) Frank Pellegrino. “Let’s have some grace with the actual Harris voters in our real lives,” Frank wrote to followers after Trump’s win. “They have been lied to by the biggest & most expensive propaganda campaign for nearly a decade and are confused. Some will see the light on their own, but some will need patience.”
