In 2020, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R) will be up for re-election. Four candidates will be elected to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from the state’s four congressional districts. Iowa voters will be selecting candidates for the Iowa State Senate and the Iowa State House. Three Iowa Court of Appeals justices are up for retention election, including Justices Thomas N. Bower, Sharon Soorholtz Greer, and David May. Justices Susan Christensen, Edward Mansfield, Christopher McDonald, Thomas Waterman, and David Wiggins of the Iowa Supreme Court are also up for retention election. Justices may choose not to stand for election.

Online voter registration is permitted in Iowa. Voters can also submit a paper registration form in person or by mail to their local county auditor. If the deadline is missed, voter registration is also permitted at their polling location on election day with proof of identification.
