In 2020, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R), will be up for re-election along with six candidates to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from each of the state’s six congressional districts. Voters will be selecting candidates for two Public Service Commission seats in 2020.  In addition, two Louisiana Supreme Court Justices and 12 Louisiana Circuit Courts of Appeal Justices are up for a partisan election. **Louisiana’s presidential primary election has been moved to June 20, due to the COVID19 situation

Important dates to remember:

  • (NEW DATE) June 20, 2020: Presidential Preference Primary/Municipal Primary Elections
      • May 30: Voter registration deadline
      • June 6 – 13: Early voting
  • July 25, 2020: Municipal General Election
      • July 4: Voter registration deadline
      • July 11 – 18: Early voting
  • November 3, 2020: Presidential General and Open Congressional Primary 
      • October 13: Voter registration deadline
      • October 20 – 27: Early voting
  • December 5, 2020: Open General Congressional Election 
    • November 14: Voter registration deadline
    • November 20 – 28: Early voting

Louisiana does not currently allow online voter registration. To register, voters can submit a paper registration form in person or by mail to the voter registrar in their county of residence. Your vote is valuable to the state and makes a difference!
