In 2020, voters in New York will elect 27 candidates to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from each of the state’s 27 congressional districts. Voters will be selecting candidates for the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly in 2020. ** New York has moved its presidential primary election, combining it with the state primary election being held June 23, due to the COVID-19 situation.

Important dates to remember:

  • June 23, 2020: Presidential and State Primary Election
    • May 29: Voter registration deadline
    • June 13-21: Early voting 
  • November 3, 2020: General Election 
    • October 9: Voter registration deadline 
    • October 24 – November 1: Early voting 

Online voter registration is permitted in New York. Voters can also submit a paper registration form in person or by mail to the voter registrar in their county of residence.
