National Republican Congressional Committee Chair, North Carolina’s Richard Hudson, demanded 2024 GOP candidates need to tell voters their position on abortion.
“You need to tell voters your position [on abortion],” Hudson argued, according to Punchbowl News.
“[Our candidates] need to articulate their position to the voters because [right now] the voters think the Republican position is like, ‘We’ll throw you in jail if you get an abortion,'” he continued. “We could have done a better job handling [abortion] last cycle where the Democrats spent hundreds of millions of dollars on that topic, and we pretty much just treated it like a hot stove and didn’t touch it.”
‘Huge Messaging Disadvantage’
“Attempting to avoid this conversation — a conversation that was and is on many voters’ minds — allowed the opposition to completely set the terms of the debate,” Family Research Council vice president Brent Keilen told the Washington Stand, noting how the GOP’s silence is “a huge messaging disadvantage.” (LEARN MORE: Biden-Harris Campaign Spends $25 Million On Pro-Abortion Ads)
