An article shared mid-week on President-elect Donald Trump’s Monday press conference at Mar-a-Lago highlighted some key themes we can expect from his incoming administration. How do these policies and platforms align with a Biblical worldview and our Guiding Truths?

Security (Personal & National)

When asked if America plans to preemptively strike Iran or support preemptive Israeli strikes against Iran, Trump immediately pointed out how ridiculous such a question is from a reporter. “Is that a serious question?” the President-elect replied.

“Well, I can’t tell you that. I mean, it’s a wonderful question, but how can I — am I going to do preemptive strikes? Why would I say that? Can you imagine if I said yes or no? You would say, ‘That was strange that he answered that way.’ Am I going to do preemptive strikes on Iran? Is that a serious question? How could I answer a question like that?” Trump added.

He also spoke of the recent spate of drones flying over the Northeastern U.S., claiming that “the government knows what is happening. Look, our military knows where they took off from; if it’s a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went.”

He later said: “If it was the enemy, they’d blast it out,” he added. “Even if they were late, they’d blast it. Something strange is going on. For some reason, they don’t want to tell the people.”

Condemning Those Praising Murder

“I think it’s really terrible that some people seem to admire him,” Trump said of Luigi Mangione, the man accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. “That was a terrible thing. It was cold-blooded. Just a cold-blooded, horrible killing.”

“How people can like this guy is … that’s a sickness, actually,” he continued. “Maybe it’s fake news, I don’t know. It’s hard to believe that can even be thought of, but it seems that there’s a certain appetite for him. I don’t get it.”

Guiding Truths

Here at Million Voices, we believe that the government has authority to and should defend our national sovereignty, borders, and preserve the right of citizens to protect themselves. The government should secure and protect our nation and provide a biblical stewardship of its citizenship and national immigration. We further believe that after we steward our family, God calls us to then reach our city, our state, our nation, the ethnic groups in our nation and share His message to the ends of the world. Israel has a special place in the word of God and should be prayed for, supported, and defended as a national and as a people.

Trump’s press conference highlighted his ability to hold court for an extended period of time, but also his support for the safety and security of our nation. He rightfully did not tell the whole world whether or not we’d be attacking Iran. He also condemned those who championed alleged cold-blooded killers. And he shared his preference for transparency and for leadership during confusing times (i.e.: the drones).
