Libertarians Select Presidential Nominee

The Libertarian Party nominated their presidential candidate, Chase Oliver, on Sunday.

Oliver secured the nomination over both former President Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who were both vying for the position, according to Fox. Oliver was chosen after the seventh round of voting with 60% of the vote in the final round. “I will continue to bring a hopeful and positive message of liberty to both those who consider themselves libertarian and those who don’t know they are libertarian yet,” Oliver said during his victory speech. What Is The Libertarian Party Platform?

The official Libertarian Party platform focuses largely on individual freedoms, particularly from governmental overreach. The website describes support of self-ownership, and they do not have an official stance on life. Also listed is the advocacy for individual privacy and government transparency, parental and adult rights, support of the LGBTQ community, and opposition to the death penalty, along with pushing for economic liberty, national and domestic defense, and self-determination. As the nominee, Oliver is calling for huge federal budget cuts in order to balance the budget, an end to the death penalty, closure of overseas military bases, and end of all support to Ukraine and Israel in their warfare, Fox stated.
