President Donald Trump opened his first cabinet meeting Wednesday in prayer.

Trump, flanked by Sec. of State Marco Rubio and Sec. of Defense Pete Hegseth, bowed his head as HUD Sec. Scott Turner led the room in prayer. He thanked God for the “awesome privilege” to be in His presence. He gave all their glory to God for appointing them to do their work, while asking for wisdom in “righteous clarity” for the President and Vice President and his colleagues as they serve our country.

Restoring Faith In America

Turner thanked God for the opportunity to restore faith in America, echoing a statement made by Trump in early September 2024 in which the soon-to-be president said the nation was “missing a lot of religion.”

“I think it really was a much better place with religion. It was almost a guide. You want to be good to people. Without religion, there’s no real guardrails. I’d love to see us get back to religion, more religion in this country,” Trump noted at the time. (EXCLUSIVE: State Law Could Cut Food Costs With Overhaul Of Farming, Agricultural Industry)

Turner asked that all conversations in the first cabinet meeting glorify Lord God, in Jesus name. “That was a very good job you did,” Trump told Turner after he concluded.

What Was Discussed In The First Cabinet Meeting?

In statements made prior to the meeting, Trump hinted that his cabinet would likely discuss the ongoing Russian-Ukraine war, as Ukrainian President Zelenskyy will meet with the president on Friday.

“In just over one month, illegal border crossings have plummeted by numbers that nobody has actually ever seen before. It’s much more than 100 percent,” Trump continued after Turner concluded the opening prayer. “And we’ve unleashed American energy at levels that will soon be reported, but we think we’re going to get it going very quickly. We have incredible people on the energy front.”

Trump expressed dismay at the ongoing crisis in Gaza, particularly as it relates to the mass loss of life. “But Israel is going to have to make a decision,” Trump said of any decision to move through the various phases of the conflict.

On The Economy

“And we’re fighting every day to get the prices down.  The inflation is stopping slowly, but part of the reason it’s stopping is because of high interest rates and other problems that we inherited,” Trump said of the economy, the most pressing issue to a majority of voters going into the 2024 election (and still today). “But we have to get the prices down — not the inflation down — the prices of eggs and various other things. Eggs are a disaster.” (BIG NEWS: One State Could Decide America’s Entire Future In 2025 Should Voters Refuse To Act)

“The secretary of Agriculture is going to be showing you a chart that’s actually mindboggling what’s happened — how low they were with us and how high they are now.  But I think we can do something about it.”

Elon Musk’s Appearance

Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) lead Elon Musk attended the meeting to provide “a summary of what’s happening, some of the things they found — some of the horrible things they found — some of the theft and fraud, and we call it waste and abuse, but a lot of fraud, and probably some fraud that we’re not going to be able to prove is fraud, but when you hear the names and the places where this money is going, it’s a disgrace,” Trump explained.

Musk was asked to speak first at the meeting, and gave a far more detailed review of his work than some were expecting. He addressed concerns over the mass swathes of cuts across government agencies, and assured voters that there is ongoing logic applied to the work and mistakes are readily fixed. “So, for example, with USAID, one of the things we accidentally canceled, very briefly, was Ebola — Ebola prevention.  I think we all wanted Ebola prevention.  So, we restored the Ebola prevention immediately, and there was no interruption,” Musk explained.
