Presidential Candidate Barred From Appearing On NY Ballot
Residents of New York will not be able to vote for Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the upcoming November elections, a judge ruled Monday.
RFK Jr. collected enough signatures to qualify to appear, but a state judge decided to call the candidate’s address a “sham,” according to the Washington Stand. Clear Choice Action, a Democrat-aligned political action committee (PAC) back a lawsuit against RFK Jr.’s New York residency, as well as other suits in Pennsylvania and Illinois.
“This case is an assault on New York voters,” the candidate said in a press release shared by the outlet. “The DNC has become a party that uses lawfare in place of the democratic election process.” (LEARN MORE: Christians Called To Shine ‘Light’ On ‘Dark Institutions’)
Are Democrats Worried?
The outlet argued that Democrats are worried about RFK Jr.’s ability to sway voters away from Vice President and candidate Kamala Harris. But similar cases to remove former President Donald Trump from state ballots were shot down by the Supreme Court, suggesting something similar may happen for RFK Jr.
“As of Tuesday, Kennedy was polling at 5% support nationwide in the RealClearPolitics average of polls, placing third behind Vice President Kamala Harris (45.4%) and Trump (44.6%). The Kennedy campaign has qualified for the ballot in 19 states, including Michigan and North Carolina, and it claims to have the signatures needed for ballot access in 45 states,” the Washington Stand stated.
What Happens Next?
RFK Jr. has defeated effort to have his name removed from ballots in states such as Hawaii, Idaho, North Carolina, and more, but the ongoing lawsuits could be proving costly. “Rather than making a positive case for their nominee the Democratic Party is politicizing our nation’s courtrooms in an effort to restrict voters’ rights to choose the candidate they like best,” his campaign alleged.
