State Launches $1M Ad Campaign Against Pro-Life Centers
Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) launched a tax-payer-funded “educational” campaign against pro-life pregnancy centers in June, telling citizens these organizations put women’s “health at risk.”
Those running the state’s DPH partnered with pro-abortion group Reproductive Equity Now Foundation to create the public education campaign, according to the Christian Post. The campaign was funded through a $1 million investment, passed by the Massachusetts legislature in the 2023 supplemental budget. “In Massachusetts, we are committed to protecting and expanding access to safe and legal abortion,” Massachusetts Democratic Governor Maura Healey said in a statement. “That includes protecting patients from the deceptive and dangerous tactics that anti-abortion centers often use to stop people from accessing comprehensive reproductive services. This campaign is an important way to provide accurate information so residents can make informed decisions about reproductive care that are right for them.”
Where Will The Campaign Run?
The campaign is set to appear on social media platforms, billboards, radio, and other media. Republican candidate for state representative in Massachusetts Jane Cournan called the tax-payer-funded ads “absolutely bizarre.” (LEARN MORE: Pro-Life Activist Receives ‘Shocking’ Prison Sentence)
“[Massachusetts] is against pregnancy resource centers that try to help needy mothers who want to keep their babies,” Cournan said on social media. “The ones I am familiar with are lifesaving to some mothers and children.”
Pregnancy Centers Under Attack
Despite efforts by American citizens to educate our political leaders on the importance of pro-life pregnancy centers, many still deny the good they do for men, women, and children. When a group of mothers demonstrated in Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s office in Washington about how these centers supported them with unplanned pregnancies, she called for them to be shut down, the Christian Post noted. “What ‘reports’ from abortion advocacy organizations won’t tell you is the myriad of testimonies from women who are grateful for their life-saving experiences with pregnancy centers,” a statement from the Human Coalition noted in 2023. “Many women leave these centers transformed and empowered. … They certainly don’t get this experience at a Planned Parenthood, where they walk out of an abortion right back into the dire circumstances that pressured them to abort. Listen to the voices of these women.”
