State Law Could Legalize Incest, Child Marriages: EXPERTS

A proposed California state constitutional amendment is being called out by experts in June, as it may lead to the legalizations of incest, polyamory, and child marriages.

Proposition 8 of the California Constitution defines marriage as follows: “between a man and a woman.” But lawmakers in the Golden State want to change the language to make marriage a “fundamental right.” The change would further shift the language to support marriage as a fundamental right “as furthering the rights to enjoy life, liberty, safety, happiness, and privacy, and the rights to equal protection and due process.”

California Family Council President Jonathen Keller warned Californians that the new language “eliminates any …. safeguards, and it opens up Pandora’s Box,” according to the Washington Stand.

‘Disaster’ Of Allowing Incest & More

Keller further explained how the language of amendment ACA 5 is a potential “disaster” waiting to happen, where “you could have siblings getting married. You could have nephews and nieces marrying uncles and aunts.” Keller says these scenarios will likely occur “[b]ecause it’s going to set up a constitutional protection to say, ‘Well, this is a constitutional right,’ and it is essentially an absolute constitutional right.” (LEARN MORE: Family Breakdown Connected To Collapse Of Christianity, Experts Say)

ACA 5 does not need Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s signature to be enacted. All that Golden State lawmakers have to do is “pass [the amendment through] both chambers of the California legislation with a two-thirds vote before it would be put before voters next year,” according to The Advocate. “The proposed amendment would require only a simple majority of votes to become law.”

‘Threat To The Social Fabric Of Our Society’

Keller told the Washington Stand that ACA 5 “represents a profound threat to the social fabric of our society.”

“The stability of the nuclear family, which has been shown time and again to be the most effective environment for raising healthy and well-adjusted children, is at serious risk. Abolishing the definition of marriage would not just affect those directly involved but would have a ripple effect across our state and nation, undermining the most foundational unit of society,” he continued. “In rejecting the God-ordained definition of marriage, proponents of this amendment are prioritizing adult desires over the well-being and rights of children,” he added, saying that not only is “this rebellion against divine principles,” but it “will only lead to greater confusion and moral decay, as we are witnessing the erosion of clear moral standards that have historically guided our communities towards stability and prosperity.”

Keller thinks that “many of those pushing for ACA 5 … are either unaware of or indifferent to the grave side effects of such an amendment” or their priority “on advancing a political agenda rather than considering the long-term implications for children, families, and society at large.”
