‘The Chosen’ Launches Biblical Universe

“The Chosen” creator Dallas Jenkins launched 5&2 Studios, unveiling a slate of huge projects in September, including animated series, an unscripted show alongside outdoorsman Bear Grylls, and more.

The mission statement of the 5&2 Studios is to “produce Bible-inspired stories through uniquely human and authentic storytelling and audience engagement,” according to Variety. (MORE GOOD NEWS: ‘God Goes Before Us’: Thousands Attend Revival)

“Nearly every time I encounter a viewer, they say something about wanting more Bible content from us. I always say we need to not get ahead of ourselves and remain focused, but now we’ve got a robust enough team to expand our efforts. I’m very excited to bring our ‘Chosen way’ to more great stories from the Bible, and it’s awesome that we get to first announce it to the fans who helped get us here long before we were popular,” Jenkins said in a statement shared by The Chosen TV.

What Are The New Projects?

One of the new projects revealed by Jenkins and his team “follows 9-year-old Abby in the Galilean city of Capernaum, circa 30 CE. Inquisitive young Abby is bursting at the seams with questions. Insatiably curious and imaginative, Abby feels like no one has the kind of answers she’s looking for. When she and her best friend, Joshua, meet Jesus, everything changes.” The animated series is called “The Chosen Adventures,” and will initially run for 14 episodes. Next up, we have “The Chosen Goes Wild” with British outdoorsman Bear Grylls. The series will follow Grylls alongside different cast members (and Jenkins) as they talk about personal stories and dive deeper into their perspectives on “The Chosen” characters they portray … all while venturing deep into the wild! It sounds like the series may not come out until the final seasons of “The Chosen” are released over the coming years.

Finally, how about a three-season series focused on Moses, as well as a limited series on the life of Joseph. “Plus, we’ll pick up where [The Chosen] Season 7 leaves off, telling the story of Paul and the apostles,” the studio teased.
