This World is Not Our Home: Anchored Hope Amid Global Unrest
At times like this—amidst the unsettling headlines about the Iran–Israel escalation—we feel the tension and urgency of our world. Yet as believers, we hold tightly to a powerful truth: this world is not our home. Our hearts can rest because we know Jesus is coming back. Scripture reminds us that even in our restlessness—those stings of separation anxiety from Jesus’s physical absence—we are comforted by His spiritual presence and the certainty of His return.
Psalm 23 and John 14 anchor our hope. We read, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley… for you are with me,” and Jesus Himself promises, “I will come back and take you to be with me.” In the chaos around us, we cling to those promises. The tension we feel, that ache of longing, is a holy longing. It’s rooted in the Spirit’s testimony within us that says we’re citizens of heaven (Romans 8:23).
And make no mistake: the chaos will end. The final chapters of Revelation assure us that God “will wipe every tear… There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” On that day, all earthly turmoil will cease at Jesus’s feet.
Until then, we live as exiles—separated, longing, yet anchored—knowing our Savior is near in Spirit and coming soon in glory. May we find peace today in prayer, community, and the unshakable knowledge that we will see Him face to face.
Your Call to Action
In light of the conflict between Israel and Iran, I encourage you to take a stand today in prayer, compassion, and action. Pause for a moment of prayer, asking for peace and protection over all innocent lives caught between violence and fear. Let us be the hands and feet of Christ, sharing His comfort with the afflicted and petitioning Heaven, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Above all, hold fast to our hope: Christ is coming back to right every wrong and restore His creation. Until then, let our voices join in spiritual warfare—for justice, for healing, and for the peace that only His return can fully bring.
“While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13).
“Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8).
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we praise You as our hope and our refuge in times of chaos. Though this world feels uncertain and our hearts long for Your presence, we trust in Your promise of Christ’s return. Strengthen our hearts in this waiting—help us live holy, serve faithfully, and shine Your light until that glorious day. Amen.
A Comforting Closure
May the peace of Jesus—as only He can give—calm your anxious heart today, reminding you that He is with you always, and soon we will dwell together in glory.
