Trump In The Lead For Voters Following September Debate
The 2024 Presidential Survey of Swing States post Debate from the Trafalgar Group found that former President Donald Trump is still ahead in the polls compared to the Harris-Walz campaign.
The survey was conducted amongst a cohort of 2245 likely general election voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, major swing states in the upcoming November election. Overall, respondents favored Trump over Harris at a rate of 47.4% to 46.8% respectively prior to the debate. (LEARN MORE: Former President Won’t Say Who He Is Voting For: REPORT)
Almost all polls found that Harris won the debate. Trafalgar’s data were no different, showing Harris winning by 55.3% to Trump’s 42.5%. In separate reports, many Americans felt that the debate moderators worked against Trump throughout the exchange, fact-checking the former president seven times while ignoring Harris when she made false statements.
Surprising Finding
Despite most people feeling that Harris won the debate, Trafalgar found that 48.2% of respondents held support for Trump, with 47.9% for Harris, showing a marginal bump for both candidates with Trump taking a small lead. (LEARN MORE: Christians Called To Shine ‘Light’ On ‘Dark Institutions’)
Reports suggest many found the debate wasn’t centered on American policy in the way voters want. “She wasn’t talking about policies because she missed the opportunity to explain all of these videos that we’ve been seeing of her as a radical … Californian. We know her policies, and she didn’t explain any of those. She just kept attacking Trump,” former Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell told Newsmax of Harris’ performance at the debate.
