Trump Soars To Highest Approval Rating Ever … Except For One Area

A CBS News poll published Sunday found that President Donald Trump is at his highest approval rating across both terms.
As of Sunday, February 9, Trump’s approval rating was 53%, with analysis suggesting the figure comes from Trump following through on his campaign promises. “I will keep it simple, Margaret. He’s doing, in the eyes of the public, what he said he would do in the campaign. There’s political value in that. In fact, 70% of people say he’s doing what he promised. That’s whether they approve of him or not,” CBS News Elections and Surveys Executive Director Anthony Salvanto told CBS host Margaret Brennan when discussing the data.
“Now, there’s another part of this that continues over from the campaign. There were words that he was described as being tough, being energetic, and he still is today in big majority numbers,” he continued. “So as people take a look in these first few weeks, there’s been a lot of activity. They’re getting that general sense of governance, and that’s being reflected in these early numbers. So that’s perception.” (POPULAR: EXCLUSIVE: Ten Commandments Bill Moves Forward After Close House Vote, Sen. Carley ‘Thankful’)

- 63% described him as energetic
- 60% called him focused
- 58% said he was effective
- 49% said Trump was doing more than expected in his first few weeks
- 70% felt Trump is doing what he promised in his campaign
- 59% approved of the Trump admin’s deportations of illegal immigrants
- 64% approved of Trump sending troops to the U.S.-Mexico border
- 52% oppose Trump’s use of large detention centers “while determining who should be deported”
- 54% support Trump’s handling of Israel-Hamas
Biggest Criticism Of Trump, Most Politicians
Some 66% of respondents didn’t feel Trump’s focus was as settled on lowering prices, the poll revealed. The economy was the #1 issue for voters in the 2024 election, with many believing it’ll take at least six months for the Trump administration to make a meaningful impact to the overall cost of living. Some 47% said they saw prices increasing while 41% said they were staying firm. (RELATED: Chrissy Clark Seems To Predict Huge Govt. Waste, Corruption?)
A NYT-Ipsos poll published in early Feb. found that most Americans don’t believe the Democratic party is focused on the economy, even though it is the most important issue for voters. Republicans were found to be “more in-sync with the mood of the country,” and that “Democrats should place greater emphasis on economic policy, there’s less consensus on how — or even whether — to address issues like transgender rights.”
