Virginia Increases Election Integrity Efforts
Virginia Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin issued an executive order Wednesday requiring all election officials to stick to extremely strict guidelines in the upcoming November election.
“The Virginia model for securing elections has proven itself over the past few years despite the significant expansion of voting days and locations and the lingering effects of the pandemic on state and local governments,” Youngkin said of the changes. “Under my Administration, Virginia has made unprecedented strides in improving the accuracy of our voter list including substantial updates for removal of deceased voters and protection against non-citizen registration.” (LEARN MORE: Interview Suggests New Evidence On Voter Machine Issues In 2020)
What Does The Order Do?
Youngkin’s executive order requires the use of paper ballots only, a triple-check system designed to ensure election results are accurate, and thorough tracking of all ballots throughout the election process. (LEARN MORE: Christians Called To Shine ‘Light’ On ‘Dark Institutions’)
Some 80,000 dead voters were purged from voter lists in 2023 alone, along with some 6,303 non-citizens who were identified and removed between 2022 and 2024.
“I think the governor has aggressively addressed an issue that must be addressed across the country.” Family Research Council fellow Ken Blackwell told Washington Watch following the order. “As you know, we have a decentralized system, and so states are approaching these problems differently. But what needs to be addressed is the real threat to the integrity of citizenship and our country, and that’s tied to the porous borders that we have … So our national sovereignty and the integrity of citizenship is really wrapped up in how the various states — or all of our states — deal with these election integrity issues.” (LEARN MORE: Election Integrity Report Finds Issues In Nevada)
