X Alternative ‘Bluesky’ Reportedly Bans User, Says Writer

Bluesky, a social media platform designed for those who don’t like the free speech used on Elon Musk’s X, apparently banned a senior staff writer for Politico and won’t explain why.

It is almost hard to remember a time when X, formerly known as Twitter, used to regularly ban and censor people, media outlets, corporations, political leaders, and just about anyone else it’s so-called “progressive” staff didn’t like. Though Jack Dorsey founded Twitter as the internet’s Public Square, it fell far from the glory of his early days, becoming a propaganda machine for the left — censoring extremely important stories, like the very-real Hunter Biden laptop story — at times where their actions shifted the course of history. Flashforward to today, and Musk has truly reinvented Dorsey’s initial idea and made it accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We no longer fear speaking our minds on X, and this reclaimed sense of freedom seems to have translated into positive real-world action. Of course, the former Twitter addicts now feel they have no echo-chamber in which to voice their opinions, which is why so many have seemingly turned to Bluesky.

No Freedom Of Speech For Bluesky Users?

“A Bluesky account you control has been detected by our systems as being spammy, fake, or inauthentic. … As a result, your account has been taken down. As a reminder, Bluesky requires that users not use Bluesky to do harm to others, including spamming, scamming, phishing or otherwise disrupting the Bluesky experience for other users. If you have any additional questions or wish to appeal this decision, please reply to this email,” the company reportedly wrote in a letter to Politico senior staff writer Michael Kruse.

When Kruse asked “why” his account was apparently taken down, he was given absolutely no answers, according to an opinion piece he wrote for Politico. (MORE: Video Of Formerly Addicted Trump Employee Will Warm Your Heart)

Kruse believes it was the fact he posted an article from Nancy Scola entitled “Democrats Face an Existential Crisis on X,” and that Bluesky didn’t like it. The subheading of the article read, “Conversations with a dozen insiders point to a party that is unsure about whether to leave or engage with the increasingly MAGA platform.”

Silenced For His Opinion?

Kruse pulled a quote from the article and added it to his post. It read: “Leaving X because you don’t like Elon is the kind of purity politics that landed Democrats in this mess to begin with.” By the next morning, Kruse claims he was inundated with hate mail from Democrats. (We will not be posting those comments in this article as their are not appropriate for our audience).

His account was eventually reinstated, but surely this type of censorship is why so many people revolted against Twitter in the first place? How do you feel about online censorship of free speech and ideas? Tell us today …
