Heaven: What a Day That Will Be!

Feb 7, 2024

“Whom have I in heaven but You? I desire You more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever” (Psalm 73:25-26).

Some of us share memories of attending Sunday or Vacation Bible School and learning about Heaven through Crayola-colored illustrations. Our developing minds envisioned what it might be like—mansions, luxury cars, beautiful gardens, streets of gold, and the pearly gates opened to more grandeur! Of course, Jesus was always there with our loved ones, including our family pets. We had child-like faith – that was enough!

As adults, we view things differently from the perspective of having a relationship with God. We are invested in our eternity now. Walking with the Lord, we see His magnificence, especially, when considering all He has done. He’s pulled us through rough times. He’s provided when there wasn’t enough money to pay the bills. He’s saved marriages. He’s protected loved ones from incidences that could have ended tragically. We EACH have stories that attest to God’s power and Divine interventions. We feel God’s presence in these moments, knowing He was responsible for a well- timed miracle. That is our God!

We will finally see the face of God! How incredible it is that God created Heaven with us in mind! It was His intent, from the beginning, that every person be with Him. It is also by God’s design that we are given a choice. He compassionately made eternal Heaven possible through the death and resurrection of his BELOVED SON. Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us. When we realize God’s great love for us, our hearts cannot help but long for Heaven. It is an abiding gift of hope from Him!

Guiding Points:

Call to Action: What is the first thing you want to see when you enter Heaven? Are there people in the Bible you’d like to meet? Soak in scriptures pertaining to Heaven, including the men who got a glimpse of it. Here are a few to start that pursuit:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).

“There is more than enough room in My Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with Me where I am” (John 14:2-3).

“They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun. For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes” (Revelation 7:16-17).

Prayer: Father God, we thank You for Your many blessings! We ask You today to strengthen our relationship with You and help us appreciate the beautiful things You have done for us. We want to be good and faithful servants to You. In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen!

Final Thought: Streets of gold and precious jewels will be fantastic to witness, but nothing will be more valuable than meeting our precious Savior face to face! What a day that will be!
