Spring: A Time of Renewal

Mar 27, 2024

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10).

Spring is a time of renewal and regeneration! In this season, we see God’s re-creation in full bloom—flowers and trees budding, birds singing while building new nests, and the return of butterflies and bees. As the curtain closes on the dead of winter, new life stirs around us, reminding us of God’s faithful rhythms of transformation throughout all generations. King Solomon described what he observed in Song of Solomon 2:11-12, “Look, the winter is past, and the rains are over and gone. The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air.”

God delights in His creation! He looked at what He made five times, “And God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:4,12, 18, 21, 25). When He created man and woman in His image, “God saw everything that He made, and behold, it was very good.” He takes enjoyment in ALL of His works, including the changing of seasons.

As God rejoices in the renewal of spring, He takes the GREATEST pleasure in the rebirth of His people! He sent His Son, Jesus, to change the landscape of this earth. Likened to winter, the people of that time were broken, cold, and hopeless. He extended restoration and salvation to a dying world, offering Himself on the cross for all sins. The same great gift is available today! In His love and compassion, He desires to meet us where we are and transform us into new creations in Him. When we call out to Jesus and accept Him into our hearts and lives, acknowledging Him as Lord, He saves us! And for those walking with God, how sweet is our invitation for refreshment with a renewed commitment to Him?
