Assimilation Act Targets Immigration Reform and Security

Senator Tommy Tuberville has introduced the Assimilation Act, a bill aimed at overhauling the U.S. immigration system. The legislation is designed to emphasize merit, self-sufficiency, and commitment to American values. The measure comes amid recent headlines, including the case of Arcadia, California Mayor Eileen Wang, who was charged with acting as an agent of China.

The bill was introduced following recent developments involving public officials and foreign influence cases. Tuberville has stated that the proposed legislation seeks to address gaps in the immigration system and ensure that immigrants uphold American laws and values. The measure focuses on community safety and the function of immigration policies.

Tuberville announced the bill during a speech on the Senate floor, stating that living in the United States is a privilege, not a right. The proposed legislation is intended to ensure that new immigrants adopt American laws and values.

Supporters of the bill say it is intended to address weaknesses in the current immigration and border systems and to support enforcement of U.S. laws. The measure seeks to change current policies to better prevent foreign influence in government and ensure newcomers follow established laws.

A recent case in California brought national attention to issues of foreign influence in local government. Eileen Wang, the mayor of Arcadia, agreed to plead guilty to federal charges and admitted to acting as an illegal agent for the Chinese government while serving in office.

According to federal officials, Wang used her position to share articles favorable to Beijing and operated a news website targeting the Chinese American community with a colleague. They were directed by Chinese government officials to post pro-PRC content aimed at local audiences.

Exposing Severe Threats to Our National Security

This alarming case proves exactly why we need the Assimilation Act now more than ever. Tuberville warned that immigrants must assimilate or risk eroding the very fabric of our country. We simply cannot allow foreign agents to gain positions of public trust.

Our current immigration system allows people to enter without adopting our core constitutional values. Tuberville noted that previous generations came to America determined to build up our great country. Today, some new arrivals seek to change our nation into the places they just left behind.

We are called to protect our families and secure our borders against these rising threats. The Arcadia mayor’s case is a prime example of foreign influence infiltrating our local governments. When a nation loses the courage to define itself, it invites others to redefine it completely.

The Assimilation Act directly addresses these severe vulnerabilities within our current border policies. It demands that citizenship reflect true character, commitment, and real civic integration. We must hold our leaders accountable and safeguard our communities from those who reject American laws.

President Trump has long championed a strong border security agenda to protect our citizens. Tuberville is standing firm alongside President Trump to fix these glaring systemic loopholes.

Tuberville stated that if we must briefly halt immigration to fix the problem, we should. He reminded Americans that in 1920, the country successfully paused immigration to integrate newcomers. We must be willing to take dramatic action to regain control of our sovereign borders.

Rebuilding a System Based on True Merit

The Assimilation Act introduces massive overhauls to ensure immigrants actually contribute to our society. First, the bill entirely eliminates the outdated and random diversity visa lottery program. It also puts a firm, permanent end to the dangerous practice of chain migration.

By ending these flawed policies, the United States can focus on a national-interest standard. The legislation also cracks down heavily on individuals who illegally overstay their temporary visas. This ensures that only those who respect our rule of law remain within our borders.

Tuberville emphasized that assimilation has absolutely nothing to do with a person’s race. Instead, it is entirely about shared values and a commitment to our constitutional republic. Newcomers do not have to abandon their faith, but they must embrace our shared beliefs.

This is a crucial step in maintaining the long-term unity and security of our nation. We must exclusively welcome those who will work hard, contribute, and readily support themselves. Our economic stewardship depends on an immigration system that truly strengthens the United States.
