Biden Education Dept. Met With SPLC Before Parental Scandal

Documents obtained by the Oversight Project reportedly showed that a high-ranking member of the Department of Education under President Joe Biden met with members of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) prior to putting parental rights groups on a “hate map,” the Washington Stand reported in January.

The documents obtained by the organization showed that the White House’s Dietra Trent, who works with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, met with SPLC staff in the year prior to the development of the “hate map,” which saw groups like Moms for Liberty placed alongside chapters of the Ku Klux Klan.

“It is shocking to see in writing the evidence that innocent parents were harassed and targeted by their own federal government for exercising their right to free speech and for speaking out during the COVID school shutdowns,” Moms for Liberty co-founder Liberty Justice said in a statement.

“We have known for some time the Biden administration has made it their mission to attack parents who publicly advocate for their children’s education,” Justice continued. “Attending public school board meetings and voicing concerns about our children’s education should not put a target on our backs to be silenced by the Federal Government.”

Why Is SPLC Targeting Families?

The SPLC has “leveraged its track record of suing Ku Klux Klan groups into bankruptcy to develop a ‘hate map’ it uses to smear enemies. The SPLC has put conservative Christian groups, immigration-reform groups, parental rights groups, and other organizations that oppose its leftist agenda on the ‘hate map’ alongside Klan chapters,” wrote Tyler O’Neil.

Why SPLC is targeting pro-parent groups is still unknown. Organizations like  Parents Defending Education, No Left Turn in Education, and Courage is a Habit, are all being threatened without any reason. But apparently, the SPLC thinks that people who want to protect their children are “anti-government extremists.”
