Border officials have reportedly closed two major rail bridges over the surge in illegal immigration, human, child, and drug trafficking, according to the Washington Stand.

U.S. Customers and Border Protection (CBP) said the closures of two major trade routes between the U.S. and Mexico were due to an “evolving situation,” which happens to be the mass surge of illegal immigrants — most of them military-aged males — entering the country via our open southern border. The bridges connect El Paso, Texas, and Cuidad Juarez, Mexico, Eagle Pass, Texas and Piedras Negras, Mexico. The closures will cost an estimated $200 million per day, as the two bridges account for 45% of cross-border shipments, the outlet noted.

Similar Supply Chain Threats In The Red Sea

Countries have been told to avoid the Red Sea wherever possible due to the ongoing threat, which could impact some 44 or more countries. One maritime industry expert said the situation will likely have “a ripple effect that will be felt across international waters, influencing global trade routes, energy supply, and even food security.”

Heightened Domestic Alerts

“[T]he CBP sources said in the last 24 hours, there were more than 12,600 migrants encountered. Now, keep in mind that those are the ones we know about, those are the ones we catch. The ones that they call the ‘getaways,’ we don’t know about them. [T]he FBI has put out a warning for heightened alert that they’re afraid there may be some terroristic acts in our country because of those coming across from countries like Syria, Iran, [and] Iraq. And listen, 12,600 migrants in 24 hours. If it was 10,000 [a day], [that’s] 300,000 a month,” Texas Republican Rep. Randy Weber told Washington Watch, Tuesday.
