Billionaire Family Pulls Support For Nikki Haley

Americans for Prosperity Action, a libertarian policy advocacy group backed by the billionaire Koch family, is pulling back its support for 2024 Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, the Epoch Times reported Sunday.

Haley lost her home state of South Carolina in Saturday’s GOP primary election by about 20 percent to former President Donald Trump. Trump managed to sweep 47 of South Carolina’s delegates, while Haley walked away with just three.

While Americans for Prosperity (AFP) still stands behind Haley’s presidential campaign, her loss on Saturday has clearly shifted the financial backing from the group. In a memo sent by the group’s CEO Emily Seidel, she described how AFP will now “take stock of where we are and—as we always do—make sure we’re optimizing our resources for maximum impact towards our goals.”

Shifting To Smaller Races

The group is now focusing on House and Senate races “where we can make the difference,” because “given the challenges in the primary states ahead, we don’t believe any outside group can make a material difference to widen her path to victory.”

In a sentence, AFP essentially closed the door on Haley’s campaign. Clearly, no one they work with believes she can become president after such a massive loss in her home state, so now AFP’s funding will go toward smaller, localized elections.

Haley Marches Forward

Despite losing her home state in the primaries, and being dropped by arguably one of the most powerful political families in the world, Haley is pressing forward. “I’m not giving up this fight when a majority of Americans disapprove of Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” Haley said following her loss on Saturday. She is currently trailing Trump by 61 points.
