Reclaiming Our Nation’s Values: Bringing the Ten Commandments Back to Education

In a time when our nation faces challenges to its moral foundation, we must turn back to the wisdom that has long guided us. The Ten Commandments, given to us by God, are a roadmap for living peacefully with others and aligning with Him.

In Exodus 20:1-17, God provides these commandments as a guide for righteous living, starting with the call to honor Him above all. Jesus affirmed this in Matthew 22:37-40, where He summarizes the commandments to love God with all our heart and love our neighbors as ourselves. Reintroducing the Ten Commandments in our schools invites these core values into the hearts of our nation’s young people––who seek direction and stability––and teaches them to live with integrity and respect. This will encourage them to follow God’s will, which ultimately strengthens the moral fabric of our nation.

Our nation was founded on Godly values and religious freedom, and preserving that history starts with instilling these core principles in the next generation. The Ten Commandments provide a moral foundation that helps maintain peace and justice in our communities. As Paul writes in Romans 13:9, the commandments to honor life, family, and property are summed up in the command to love your neighbor as yourself. Schools should not just educate students in academics but also in the values that help a society thrive. Upholding these commandments ensures our nation remains strong, united, and rooted in faith. Let us stand firm in our commitment to returning to these guiding truths, preserving a future where our nation remains grounded in God’s Word and His love for each of us.

Also, pray for every state legislature introducing a Ten Commandments bill and for other states to join in the effort.

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of hope and conviction, asking for Your guidance and blessing over the bills to bring the Ten Commandments back into our schools. We pray that You move in the hearts of state legislators nationwide, giving them the courage and wisdom to support this bill and recognize the importance of grounding our children in Your truth. Lord, may more states join in this effort to restore moral values in our education system, so that future generations may grow in integrity, respect, and a deep understanding of Your Word. We ask for Your protection over this movement so that it may honor You and strengthen the foundation of our nation. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
