Broken Borders: The Cost of Ignoring Immigration Laws

Recent reports and social media commentary have highlighted deeply troubling actions by the current administration. Arthur MacWaters, a vocal commentator, has raised serious questions about whether these actions amount to a betrayal of the American people. He points out that no laws changed to allow this crisis, yet the border remains wide open.
The Biden administration seemingly decided to bypass the legislative process entirely. MacWaters notes that officials effectively sued to keep the border open, acting against the safety of the citizens they swore to protect. This raises a frightening question: Who was really in charge of our nation’s security?
When the government fails to uphold its primary duty of protection, the people suffer. We see this suffering in communities across the nation that are overwhelmed by this influx. It is time for the church to wake up and speak out against this negligence.
The Real Cost of Lawlessness and Crime
According to data highlighted by MacWaters, in 2023 alone, ICE arrested thousands with prior convictions. These included 4,000 sexual crimes and over 1,000 homicides. These are not just statistics; these are potential tragedies waiting to happen in our neighborhoods.
Yet, despite these alarming numbers, protestors still refuse to back down and allow federal agents to enforce the law against violent criminals. This disconnect is baffling to the average American citizen who values safety and the rule of law. In fact, polls show that a vast majority of Americans support deporting illegal immigrants who commit additional crimes.
The will of the people is being ignored in favor of a political agenda. When 74% of the country agrees on a solution, leadership should listen. Instead, we see policies that seem to prioritize the rights of non-citizens over the safety of citizens.
This brings us back to the question of treason raised by critics. If a government facilitates the entry of dangerous individuals, is it not betraying its own people? The Bible teaches us to seek justice and defend the oppressed. Right now, American citizens are being oppressed by a system that refuses to enforce its own laws.
The Battle for Fair Representation and Integrity
The controversy extends beyond immediate physical safety into the halls of power and representation. A new legal battle has emerged regarding how we count our population for political purposes. The Missouri Attorney General has launched a lawsuit that strikes at the heart of fair representation.
The lawsuit challenges the practice of counting illegal aliens in the U.S. Census. This practice impacts how many seats each state gets in Congress and how many electoral votes they wield. The Missouri AG even went as far as suing to ensure that American citizens are the ones determining American elections.
Currently, states that ignore immigration laws and harbor large populations of illegal aliens gain political power. This dilutes the voice of law-abiding citizens in other states. It essentially rewards states for undermining federal immigration law.
This is a matter of fundamental fairness and stewardship of our republic. The lawsuit argues that the Founding Fathers never intended for non-citizens to determine congressional apportionment. Representation should belong to the people who have sworn allegiance to this nation.
Furthermore, this issue affects the stewardship of our financial resources. Federal funding for schools, roads, and hospitals is distributed based on these census numbers. Including illegal aliens in these counts diverts federal dollars away from citizens and legal residents who need them.
We are called to be good stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us. Allowing our political system to be manipulated in this way is a failure of that stewardship. It creates a perverse incentive for politicians to encourage illegal immigration to gain more power.
This is why election integrity is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy. If the foundation of our representation is flawed, every law passed thereafter is tainted. We must fight for a system that honors the voice of the citizen.
A Call to Action for the Faithful
The evidence is clear: our immigration system is broken, and our laws are being ignored. From the open borders to the skewed census counts, the current path is unsustainable. But we are not helpless in this fight.
We have the power of prayer and the power of our voice. We must pray for our nation and for leaders who will turn back to God’s principles of justice and order. We need to pray for protection over our communities and wisdom for our judges.
But prayer must be accompanied by action. We must support efforts like the Missouri lawsuit that seek to restore integrity to our system. We must vote for candidates who are not afraid to secure the border and enforce the law.
We are called to be salt and light in a decaying world. Standing up for the rule of law is a way to shine that light. Let us mobilize our churches to become centers of truth and action.
The future of our nation depends on the active involvement of its people. We cannot afford to be passive observers while our country is transformed against our will. Stand firm, speak out, and trust in God’s power to restore our land.
