Lakepointe Church senior pastor Josh Howerton shared a video on social media in mid-November about recent government hearings about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and how Christians may feel about this topic.

Are the young people in your family talking about an alien invasion today? Don’t be surprised if they are. There is a rumor churning across social media that a supposed UFO invasion of Earth will start on Dec. 3, 2024, and there is no reason to believe it unless you want to believe. We’re writing this article ahead of time and truly hope that aliens don’t invade. We’ll know by tonight whether the rumors are true, but on the extreme off-chance they are, here’s what Lakepointe Church senior pastor Josh Howerton has to say about the so-called alien phenomena …

“Here’s what I for sure believe in: the possibility of demons posing as aliens,” Howerton told followers, before sharing two “creepy” facts about this issue from the Bible. He first noted that, during recent government hearings on UFOs, alleged whistleblowers claimed aliens are living in our skies and under our oceans. “Ephesians 2:2 calls Satan and demons ‘the prince of the powers of the air.’ You say, ‘yeah josh but what about them being in the ocean?’ Well, when Jesus cast demons into pigs in Matthew 8, they immediately ran underwater into the sea of Galilee. But also when Revelation 13 describes Satan and demonic forces and the rising at the end of time, guess where it says they rise from?” He then turned to his computer screen, which showed the text from Revelations 13 …

‘And I saw a beast rising out of the sea’

The Department of Defense’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) released their UFO (sometimes known as Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) report a day after the 2024 hearing. The purpose of AARO is to investigate reports of suspected UFOs/UAPs to determine their origin. (RELATED: Megachurch Pastor Says Non-Voting Christians Go Against God)

“Analyzing and understanding the potential threats posed by UAP is an ongoing collaborative effort involving many departments and agencies,” the DoD said in a statement regarding the report, according to Space. “The safety of our service personnel, our bases and installations, and the protection of U.S. operations security on land, in the skies, seas, and space are paramount. We take reports of incursions into our designated space, land, sea, or airspaces seriously and examine each one.”

How Do Americans Feel About UFOs?

“What do you want with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” (Matthew 8:29)

A reported 20 million people in the U.S. believe they’ve seen a UFO, with a majority of Christians appearing to side with Howerton’s analysis of the issue, according to the Christian Post. The incredible thing is that there are more than 400 documented cases of potential “alien abductions” being stopped because the victim called on the name of Jesus Christ, says UFO expert Gary Bates. The Christian Post defined potential “aliens” or “demons” as “supernatural beings originally created by God to serve as holy angels, demons are fallen angels who rebelled against God and went the way of Lucifer.” These beings are intelligent, skilled shapeshifters, designed to lure humans away from God. “Many UFO investigators have followed a path that has taken them directly into the world of the occult. They believe they are rediscovering ancient spiritual truths and uncovering new realities about the universe … it has led many to experiment with astral projection, to believe in reincarnation, etc,” says Dr. Ron Rhodes.
