Six people were killed Saturday as a series of devastating tornadoes hit the states of Tennessee and Kentucky, including two children.

Eleven different Tennessee counties were impacted by tornadoes throughout mid-December, and it’ll be weeks until power is restored in the affected parts of the state, CBN reported. At least one of the twisters was on the ground for more than an hour, traveling over 40 miles through Todd and Logan counties in Kentucky.

In Clarksville, Montgomery County, TN, the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church lost its roof as one tornado ripped through the city. Some 91 structures were destroyed, and more than 300 sustained serious damage.

Vincent Johnson said. “God took brick and wood and metal and it was mangled in a tornado … yet God preserved us.”

The weather conditions for tornadoes were perfect throughout early December. Warm, moist air was coming in off the Gulf, which was mixing with frozen air from the north. (LEARN MORE: Actor Dennis Quaid Credits God For Helping Him Through Addiction)
