Dallas Jenkins To Do ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’

Creator and director of “The Chosen,” Dallas Jenkins, is joining forces with the studio that brought us “Jesus Revolution,” to remake the children’s book “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” into a movie!

“This is a dream come true and the movie I’ve most wanted to make my whole career. And I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone other than Lionsgate and Kingdom, who make great movies while supporting filmmakers,” Jenkins announced on his personal YouTube channel. Jenkins is writing and directing the flick, which is expected to be released just in time for Christmas 2024.

“Based on the beloved book and play, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever centers on the Herdmans –absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. But this Christmas, they’re taking over their local church Pageant – and they just might unwittingly teach a shocked community the true meaning of Christmas,” Lionsgate wrote in a press release issued via Deadline.

Something To Look Forward To

Christmas 2024 has clearly come early, for us and for the Jenkins family. Apparently, they’ve been fans of Barbara Robinson’s book for 15 years or more. It’s moved them to tears on more than a few occasions, by the sounds of things.

What Else Is Next?

Lionsgate officially acquired the distribution rights to “The Chosen” earlier in 2023, so we’re excited to see what other sorts of projects they get in development with Jenkins. Perhaps some of our other favorite actors and creators will join the journey too!
