‘Demons Were Real’: Former VP Candidate’s Near-Death Experience Brought Her To Jesus

Nicole Shanahan, the former running-mate of HHS Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said in April that a near-death experience led her closer to Christ.

Shanahan has no fear in sharing her faith and the good word at every opportunity she gets, but this powerful woman’s experience with Christ comes from many dark times in her past. We’ve written previously about her beautiful baptism story. “Learning just how far some will go to inflict atrocities on innocent Americans has shocked me awake. Other unexplainable events have also forced me to reconsider whether we are waging a war not merely with flesh and blood but with spiritual forces.”

In an interview with Allie Beth Stuckey, Shanahan described suffering a miscarriage at 20 weeks pregnant on the campaign trail. “[I] was pretty far along. It was really scary… I almost lost my life,” she told the independent journalist.

“I was at Stanford [and] at 20 weeks they take you to delivery,” she continued. “It was just not a good situation. I lost [nearly] four liters of blood, pretty much was dying, was [also] losing a baby, and it was just, it was it was very, it was a very scary experience.” She said she felt her “life slipping” and was close to the edge of death. “I was taken so close to the end,” she added.

Thanks to medical intervention, Shanahan’s life was saved. “My world was so full of pain in that moment and it’s still, you know, there’s still pain,” she said, before describing how Christ found her on her journey to recovery. “But to know that you’re not alone, that Jesus’s blood was shed for us humans – in this world of pure discord – that we know our souls belong to Him…and that God loves us so deeply that even in our moment of pain and death, we actually can know 100% without any doubt that we are in God’s kingdom.”
