Divine Love: The Unshakeable Peace in Jesus Christ

Oct 10, 2023

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him” (John 3:17).

Amid conflict in the Middle East, we are reminded of how heavily we rely on Jesus for peace—a peace that transcends our surroundings. During times of war, achieving this peace is challenging but attainable if we open our hearts to all the offerings of Jesus. The story of Moses, as told in Exodus, divulges two main interpretations explaining why Moses wore a veil over his face after conversing with God. One interpretation suggests that he was concealing the glory of God to avoid intimidating others, while the other proposes that the glory of God was diminishing, and he used the veil to hide this. Many believe that the veil symbolizes the blinding of the Israelites to the truth of Jesus.

Undeniably, there are stark contrasts between the old and new covenants. The veil of the old is lifted with Jesus Christ. As Paul states in 1 Corinthians 3:12-15, “Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

We may fundamentally, religiously, or politically disagree with others, but we are called to pray for ALL people to find Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

At the very moment Jesus gave up His spirit on the cross, the veil or curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth trembled, and rocks split apart (Matthew 27:50-51). We all fall short of the glory of God, but Jesus took the place of every man, woman, and child and paid a debt we could not pay. He became sin for us so we could be reconciled back to the Father. He was willing to endure suffering because of His eternal and perfect love for us. In that, believers have eternal peace.

Your Call to Action

Embrace the radiant glory of Jesus! Heed the call, reaching out to others who remain shrouded in unbelief and share the peace of Jesus. Salvation can only be found in Him. Let us march forward to bring eternal peace to every corner of the world.

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

Jesus, we adore You. We linger in Your presence. Your divine mercy knows no bounds and Your peace transcends all understanding. We pray Your light will shine through us in a dark world. Give us the words to say and opportunities to share Your glory. In Your precious name, we pray, Amen.

A Comforting Closure

In the face of global discord, let us remember—the steadfast love of Jesus is our sanctuary, our place of refuge. His love remains an unshakeable beacon of hope.
