Faith-Based Film ‘Unsung Hero’ Hits Big In US
Faith-based film “Unsung Hero” is the latest smash hit from the studio that brought us “Jesus Revolution,” coming in No. 2 on its opening weekend in 2024.
From Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company, “Unsung Hero” is the true story of one mother’s relationship with Christ and how it inspires her family to hang onto theirs, according to IMDB. Tracking suggested the movie would net somewhere between $5 and $6 million, but it ended up with an estimated $7.8 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A majority of the audience were apparently women, making up 91% of the total viewership. If you haven’t seen the trailer before, you can watch it below. We don’t think this movie is just for women, and encourage everyone to go and see it!
What Is The ‘Unsung Hero’ Story?
“Based on a true story, the $6 million film follows David Smallbone as he moves his family from Australia to the U.S. searching for a brighter future after his successful music company collapses. Along the way, he and his wife begin to realize the musical talent of their seven children; three of whom would become two successful acts — KING + COUNTRY and Rebecca St. James,” THR described. The film already has an A+ Cinema Score and a 99% Rotten Tomatoes audience score (at the time of writing). The success of yet another faith-based movie just shows we’re still in the middle of this Great Awakening! And it is far from over!
