Faith Unfinished: Finding Your Way to God

Sep 5, 2024

Life gets away from us and free time can be elusive. Unfinished projects may sometimes sit around our homes—a half-painted dresser or an old car only partially restored. We intend to devote time to it ‘someday.’ Yet as life goes on, years roll by, the project remains untouched. We eventually give up, sell it off, or discard it, instead of getting our house in order. This is a manifestation of our free will and moral agency. When presented with a choice, whether to finish an old project or get our souls right with God, we have the option to embrace or ignore it.

Regarding spiritual health, God extends His guidance for us to make good decisions. He lays out the blueprint for wise choices, urging us to love the Lord our God, to tread the path of obedience to Him, and to adhere to His commands for a life of blessings (Deuteronomy 3:16).

Deuteronomy 30:19 also advises, “Now choose life, so that both you and your children may live, that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him.” We are to cling to God and never let go as we choose life in Christ. Prioritize God and get your spiritual house in order. Let us not allow unfinished projects to become a metaphor for our spiritual lives. Instead, let them serve as reminders of the importance of taking action toward what truly matters.

Your Call to Action

Don’t let “someday” become never. Trust in God’s wisdom, lean on His strength, and step forward in obedience. Make the most of every opportunity He has given us to live abundantly in Him. Remember, God is just a prayer away. Reach out to Him, listen to His voice, and step across the line of faith to walk the path He has chosen for you.

“But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve…But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).

“How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone” (James 4:14).

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Prayer

Our Father in Heaven, we praise Your holy name. You are a good, good Father. We want to get our house in order and not let another day pass without putting You and our spiritual well-being first. We come just as we are, Lord. We know You’re waiting with open arms. We accept You, prioritize You, and love You! We ask forgiveness for our sins and for You to set our feet on Your solid rock as we move forward in life with You at the forefront of all we do. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray, Amen!

A Comforting Closure

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety” (Psalm 18:2).
