Fetterman Leans Right On Border Control

Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman told CNN, Friday, that he “honestly [doesn’t] understand why it’s controversial to say we need a secure border.”
Fetterman might have gotten a few of his statistics a little wonky, but his head was clearly in the right place while talking to CNN’s Jake Tapper about illegal immigration on Friday. “We want to provide the American Dream for any migrant. But it seems very difficult when you have 300,000 people showing up encountered at our border. … And I think we need to do a reset, and we have to work together and develop a new comprehensive solution to that,” the senator told Tapper.
NEW: Senator John Fetterman once again defies his own party, asks why it’s controversial to want a secure border.
Answer: Because your party thinks it’s “racist.”

Fetterman’s Changing Tune
The senator’s statement comes just a week after he told the New York Post that “There is a crisis. We have a crisis at our border, and it can’t be controversial that we should have a secure border,” stating more than 300,000 people appeared on the border in December 2023 alone. “That’s larger than the population of Pittsburgh. … That’s [Pennsylvania’s] second largest city — and that’s one month.” (LEARN MORE: Democratic City Alderman Says Open Border Caused Crime Surge)
But can we trust his rhetoric? Yes, admitting there is a crisis is part of curbing the influx of unchecked and unmitigated illegal immigration. But could Fetterman be subtly pushing the leftist narrative that we should allow illegal immigrants the right to work, vote, and claim capital from taxpayers?
