Finding God’s Peace When Running on Empty

Nov 15, 2024

Life struggles and losses weigh heavily on our hearts, causing us to grow weary and even discouraged. Things are tough for some people around the holidays. We may be lonely or feel like we are running on empty. In such times, we can seek God’s unique peace.

Peace is not the absence of struggle, but God’s joyful stillness in the midst of the storm. Paul writes in Philippians 4:7, “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”

Peace is not dependent on what is happening in the world around us. It’s more than just an emotion; it’s the very spirit of God enveloping us in His goodness. God-given peace comes from God entering our hearts and filling us with His loving presence. We must be willing to let Him in to heal those broken places, giving us hope and a fresh outlook to move forward.

Your Call to Action

Open your heart to God’s love. Cast your worries on Him and let His words of wisdom wash over you. Invite Him in and watch His peace overflow, turning your trials into triumphs.

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls’” (Matthew 11:28-29).

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (Isaiah 26:3).

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Prayer

Dear God, we thank You for the overwhelming peace only You can provide. We know You see us in our times of need. Please help us depend on You, even when we grow weary. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Comforting Closure

God is our ultimate sanctuary, ready to bear our burdens and relieve our anxieties. His love transcends worldly troubles, offering us steadfast and unshakable peace.
