Freed: Overcoming Fear with Faith
Fear cripples us. It keeps us stagnant. It is the hurdle that prevents the pursuit of our dreams and the plans God has for us.
It was fear that caused the disciples to wake Jesus in the storm. It caused Peter to deny Christ three times. Fear and lack of faith made the Israelites complain about their circumstances and it stopped them just a few miles outside the Promised Land. Fear is no stranger to believers.
We all have fear and lack of faith at times. But when we let fear control us, it paralyzes us and keeps us living in the wilderness just like the Israelites. We wander and never reach our full potential. Fear is the enemy of progress.
Jesus comforted His disciples by saying, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me” (John 14:1). He is the answer to fear. Whatever is troubling us, He will deliver us from it. Opening up our hearts to Him will quiet our anxious minds. We can trade our worry for peace, by trusting Him with all our cares. Jesus gives us the courage to face whatever tomorrow holds.
Call to Action
We can be victorious over fear through a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Cast all your cares on Him and be in deep prayer for deliverance from things that cause you distress. Turn your worries into worship and let your faith rise above your fear.
“See, God has come to save me. I will trust in Him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; He has given me victory” (Isaiah 12:2).
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).
“But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. I praise God for what He has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4).
Prayer
Father God, thank You for providing us with courage and strength when we need them most. Help us to lean into You and to give You all the worries that steal our joy. We claim victory over fear today. In Jesus’s name, we pray, Amen.
