Global Uncertainty: Overcoming Fear and Worry

“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears” (Psalm
34:4).

There has been no shortage of things to worry about these last few years. We have witnessed one national and global crisis after another as gripping fear has consumed many people. Most recently, growing anxiety is centered around world banking developments and the revelation that China brokered a deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran. To compound matters, most mainstream media proves untrustworthy to disclose facts, forcing reliance on smaller news outlets with lesser reach for people to learn the truth. How many are not connected to alternative news sources and never hear facts? Overall, the truth has been hard to find due to a governing Administration not being forthcoming with information.

Fear and worry rob us of joy and energy! Therefore, Matthew 6:27 directly addresses this; “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” Worry only harms— it is never good. It takes our eyes off God and fixates them on things out of our control. When we focus on obstacles, we lose sight of our God-given objectives. Yet, our faith can triumph over fear IF we take everything to God in prayer and leave it at His feet!

Paul urges in Philippians 4:6-7: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” When we think something is too small of a request for God, it isn’t! When we feel overwhelmed, admit to Him, “This is too much, Lord. Please help me lay down this worry and fear, and trust You with the things I cannot control.” He WILL help us overcome while changing our perspective to one of dependency on Him for peace and reassurance in times of trouble. He wants so much more for us than a life full of fear and worry!

Guiding Points:

Call to Action: Are you a worrier? Are things outside of your control weighing heavy on your heart? If so, ask God for help in this area. He will give peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self- discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).

“Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting in the Lord means safety” (Proverbs 29:25).

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, Your name is high above every name, and we praise You today! We ask You, Lord, to help us choose faith over fear and worry, regarding things we cannot control in the world. Give us peace in our hearts, our homes, and around the globe. Remind us to trust You with everything, and come to You in prayer– even with the small things. We thank You for Your goodness to us! In Your name, we pray, Amen!

Final Thought: God’s perfect love casts out all fear. Rejoice in Him today and know He’s got you!
