“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the Lord of hosts” (Haggai 2:8).
Gold has maintained its value through the centuries for its durability and lustrous beauty. Fire doesn’t destroy gold but rather, forges it into a purer form. Nations have coveted it, protected it, and warred over it. God created gold to stand the test of time.
The King James Version of the Bible mentions gold 417 times, and 22 times in Revelation alone, indicating its importance. This God-made currency will play a significant role in the end times. For many, it is presently a preferred accrued wealth for maintaining its value compared to our fiat currency backed by the government. When President Nixon abandoned the gold standard in 1971, paper money lost 87% of its value! Considering investments in precious metals is very wise and minimizes (even eliminates) the federal government’s control of our currency. When we protect assets from inflation, we are putting commerce control back into the hands of “We the People.”
As valuable as gold is, 1 Peter 1:6-7 reminds us that our faith is even MORE precious; “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So, when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” Fire refines and purifies gold, but trials refine us as followers of Jesus. Our faith in Him helps us to press on, knowing that as believers, we have hope and eternal life in Him!

Here are a few corresponding verses about gold:
“I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure. I will refine them like silver and purify them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘These are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God’” (Zechariah 13:9).
“But He knows where I am going. And when He tests me, I will come out as pure as gold” (Job 23:10).
“The wall was made of jasper, and the city was pure gold, as clear as glass…The twelve gates were made of pearls—each gate from a single pearl! And the main street was pure gold, as clear as glass” (Revelation 21:18, 21).
Prayer: Father God, we praise Your holy name today! We pray that Your hand be with the State Legislature of Texas and other elected representatives across the country as they deal with financial matters on our behalf. Help them to make good decisions and to seek You for guidance during this critical hour. Thank You for creating gold, and for opportunities to make beneficial changes and choices for our financial future. More importantly, thank You for giving us FAITH in Your promises through Your Son, Jesus. Our trust is in You alone. In His precious name, we pray, Amen!
