Angel Studios’ latest blockbuster ‘The King of Kings’ earned an estimated $6.6 million in a single day (April 18) after massively positive reviews.
As of Friday, April 18, Angel Studios’ animated film “The King of Kings” earned an estimated $34,693,552, according to an email shared by Angel Studios with Million Voices. “Very few films in the history of cinema perform like this in theaters,” Global Head of Theatrical Distribution & Brand Development at Angel Studios’ Brandon Purdie said in a statement.
“This kind of momentum isn’t tied to a date on the calendar—it’s driven by the power of the story. The King of Kings delivers on every level: epic, emotional, and made for the big screen. A film like this could thrive any weekend of the year, because when you bring the greatest story ever told to life with this kind of scope, theaters make room—and audiences show up. At Angel, it’s always been about the audience. And right now, they’re speaking loud and clear—they’re flocking to theaters,” he continued.
What Is The Film About?
The movie is inspired by the works of Charles Dickens, following a father and son on their journey through the life of Jesus Christ “delivering a fresh and heartfelt take on the greatest story ever told.” (RELATED NEWS: Country Music Star Shares Interesting Take On Real ID, Starting Heated Debate)
The film was directed by Seong-Ho Jang and features a huge line-up of stars, including Kenneth Branagh as Charles Dickens, Uma Thurman as Catherine Dickens, Pierce Brosnan as Pontius Pilate, Mark Hamill as King Herod, Roman Griffin Davis as Walter Dickens, Forest Whitaker as Peter, Ben Kingsley as High Priest Caiaphas, and Oscar Isaac as Jesus Christ.
The film stunned the box office when it first opened, landing in second place with $7,000,000 across just 3,200 screens, making it the largest opener for an animated Biblical film ever, according to another email sent by Angel Studios to Million Voices.
Huge Reviews Online
The film currently has a 98% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes, which is especially epic considering the platform is notorious for film critics who aren’t always the biggest fan of God and Christ. Variety’s Carlos Aguilar seemed to miss the entire point of the film, writing that it was “serviceable if uninspired take on a story told countless times in just as varied formats.” If you want a good laugh, we highly recommend checking out the rest of the reviews from the other so-called film “critics.” (RELATED NEWS: Experts Sound Alarm Over So-Called ‘Remarkable Religious Transformation’ Amongst One Generation)
Almost 1,000 people posted their own reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, almost all of which were extremely positive. “This was one of the most well-made movies my children and husband loved it. I highly recommend everyone seeing it. I’d like to go see it again!” wrote one user, her sentiment echoing throughout the rest of the reviews.

Keep Acting Local
Politicians you elect in your city, county, and state usually have a greater impact on your daily life than anyone in the federal government. During “off-years,” these local races send ripple effects throughout American communities. It is up to you to shape them.
It seems like every time we at Million Voices speak to lawmakers and their teams, they all tell us the same thing: if just 10 people in their district write letters about issues that matter to them, elected officials know they have a serious crisis on their hands. A thousand people could message that same lawmaker via email or social media, and it would mean nothing. But hand-written, or even printed and signed letters, will make your politicians take action (if they really care about your vote, that is).
Contacting your representatives should be easy, but there are myriad ways they can ignore your calls to action. That’s where we come in.
Yes, Million Voices helps you with voter guides. Yes, we send letters from YOU directly to your elected officials because it’s the only way to guarantee they’ll listen to you. Yes, we publish data, articles, text messages, and help bridge the gap between education and civic action. But what do you want? Tell us today.
We want to make YOU the hero of our American story by giving you the tools you need to make a difference, from your local, state, all the way up to the federal level.
Join us in our mission to advocate for religious freedom, support fair and secure elections, and uphold the values that this great nation was built upon. Tell us what you want from the next four years, and we will fight to make it a reality … again!
