Harvard Decides Trans Surgeries ‘Essential’

Harvard Medical School is teaching new doctors that transgender surgeries are “essential” for their training, according to the Washington Stand.

Classes offered throughout the fall semesters in 2023 and 2024 will give students “an opportunity to participate in procedures that span the entire specialty including hand surgery, breast reconstruction, microsurgery, craniofacial surgery, lymphatic surgery, orthoplastic surgery, gender-affirming surgery, and cosmetic surgery,” according to the outlet. Students will be allowed to practice surgeries on adult patients. “This training also includes teaching the basics of gender-affirming surgery for consenting adult patients seeking such procedures,” the school told reporters.

Multiple States Ban Transgender Surgeries For Children

A number of states have already banned so-called “gender transition” surgeries for young people. “Protecting our children is critically important,” Sen. Kathleen Kauth said at the signing of LB574, which passed in Nebraska. “I brought LB574 because we have too many kids who are being swept up in what is a social contagion, and being told that … if they just switch their gender, they’ll be fine, everything will be great.
