His Correction and Direction
“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you His peace at all times, and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.” (2 Thessalonians 3:16)
Sometimes we feel like something is missing—especially when we aren’t sure where God wants to use us. We can get discouraged trying to find our path, but the Bible tells us to replace our worry with prayer: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
When we pray and turn to His word for direction, He will lead us! He calls His own…by name…He leads them, and they follow because they are familiar with His voice (John 10:4).
Some of us may have felt these promptings from God—possibly even for years or decades—but, for one reason or another, have veered from the path or even chosen a different direction. Others of us may have struggled to recognize His voice. Or, when the opportunity was presented, we did not have confidence in our readiness or ability. Or, God may have even allowed an extended time of growth and preparation for the things He has planned for us. Some of us may have even spent years with regret, our minds plagued with feelings of letting God down.
No matter where we find ourselves, the wonderful news is that God can redeem all our mistakes and even use them to realign us with His will for our lives!
God, in his compassion, provides a biblical roadmap for us to find our way into (or back into!) His will: Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect (Romans 12:2). It is NEVER too late, and we’re NEVER too old to walk in alignment with God!
Call to Action: God is calling us. Will we allow Him to re-position us for His purpose? Read these scriptures as we prepare our hearts for prayer for His divine direction.
A man’s steps are established by the LORD, and He takes pleasure in his way. Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the LORD holds his hand (Psalm 37:23-24).
The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth (Psalm 145:18).
Prayer: Lord, we praise you and come before you as faithful followers of Christ. We all need correction in our lives and ask that you set our feet on the right path. We want to be used by You, living out Your will for our lives. We ask for renewed vision and for You to update our life-plan where we have missed the mark. Bring us clarity for what You want us to be doing. Please move in our hearts and open doors for us that align with Your will. Thank You for the wisdom You give us when we ask. We claim Your promises right now in Jesus’ name. Amen!
Final Thoughts: A big harvest of people who are desperate for God’s saving grace is all around us! God has called us, and He will equip us to step up to the challenge of reaching them. Let’s allow Him to adjust our comfort zone! We may be in a position we’ve never been in before or never thought we would be in. If we allow the Lord to correct and direct our journey, we will run our race beside Him and win people to Christ, fulfilling our part of His plan for us.
