Honoring Charlie Kirk: A Legacy of Faith and Courage

On Wednesday, America lost a warrior for the very principles on which she was built. Charlie Kirk, conservative reformer, was assassinated by an evil man. Charlie leaves behind him a nation in mourning, along with his wife and two children. Charlie Kirk’s actions over the years have ignited a fire in American youth that has only ignited further, after his life was senselessly taken.
Charlie Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA, the largest grassroots conservative organization in America. What he leaves behind is nothing short of momentous in every way. His ability to communicate the principles of American liberty, along with truth and the Gospel of Jesus was in many ways historic, and his following is the proof. In just 14 years, Charlie decided not to attend college at 17 years of age, to becoming what many Americans would say, the most formidable young conservative force in America in our era.
President Trump, in honor of Charlie’s patriotic vision and accomplishments announced on Thursday, “I am pleased to announce that I will soon be awarding Charlie Kirk, posthumously, the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” a well-deserved and hard-earned award.
Tributes Across the Political Spectrum
Millions have come out in support of Charlie Kirk, expressing their heartfelt prayers and thoughts in what can only be compared to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated in 1968, standing up for the equal rights and treatment of blacks. Tulsi Gabbard, who ran for President in 2016 as a Democrat, had only honor to lay before Charlie’s life.
Charlie Kirk was truly one of a kind. A kind, loving, and courageous soul who lived what he preached. His view that our political, social, and spiritual differences should be debated freely and respectfully was something he put into practice every day — a living embodiment of the… pic.twitter.com/oJ6dc2U7O4

Conservative commentator, Benny Johnson, recognized Charlie as a martyr for his cause, honoring him as a Christian soldier.
No one will ever fill this chair.
But Charlie Kirk is a martyr.
And martyrs only become more powerful. We must all, in our own poor and inadequate ways, seek to carry on Charlie’s mission. For Charlie. American Martyr. Christian Soldier. May we defeat the evil that stole him… pic.twitter.com/NCwpVvNktH

Secretary Gabbard was not the only Democrat to honor Charlie Kirk. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. extended his condolences, stating that Charlie was “our country’s relentless and courageous crusader for free speech.”
Charlie’s murder also prompted Hollywood star Rob Schneider to offer his condolences, pointing toward scripture for encouragement.
During this difficult time in our Nation, there will be those that want vengeance and will feel justified in their actions to commit violence.
That is precisely why they must not.
We must not give in to the temptation of returning evil with evil.

Carrying the Torch of Liberty
America is at a turning point. John Adams’ words remain as heavy today as when he first spoke them: “Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” America, though founded on a strong spiritual heritage, is no longer a spiritual people. How can a nation that has become immoral, irreligious, and openly anti-God remain compatible with the very document it is governed under? That is a sobering question, and one that demands urgency.
Charlie Kirk’s life embodied that very message at its core. His legacy is one that few people ever achieve. His vision and boldness live on in the hearts of those who share his passion for God and country. Young Americans, inspired by Charlie’s example, will continue answering the call to carry forward his work. He influenced too many for his impact to ever fade or be left unfinished.
Conservative voices like Ben Shapiro have committed to going on college campus tours to continue the patriotic work Charlie advanced. After all, college campuses should be places where ideas and views are exchanged freely, where truth is allowed to stand against error, and where students are challenged to think critically rather than be indoctrinated.
A Legacy of Boldness and Faith
One of the greatest lessons from Charlie Kirk’s life is that boldness and truth make a difference. Chandler Crump’s story is just one example. At only 14 years old, he attended Turning Point USA’s Black Leadership Summit in 2018. Charlie told him that age didn’t matter, he could fight alongside him in this movement. Chandler later credited Charlie for shaping who he is today.
Charlie Kirk changed my life.
I attended Turning Point USA’s Young Black Leadership Summit in October 2018. I was 14 at the time but Charlie told me it didn’t matter how young I was, I could fight alongside him in this movement.

Similar stories have surfaced across the internet, each a testimony to Charlie’s ability to inspire courage and conviction.
Now more than ever, it is time to pick up the torch of liberty and run with it firmly in hand. The only answer to our nation’s restoration and healing is found in one name: Jesus. Charlie knew that, he lived it, and he left this earth believing it. We must do the same, responding with the boldness and tenacity he modeled for us, carrying the fight for truth into every arena of culture and public life.
