We Will Inherit the Kingdom
“I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.” Ephesians 1:18
(NLT) When we think of inheriting something, we think of something tangible, with monetary or sentimental value. It could be a cherished item a grandparent wanted us to have or a beat-up 1984 Station Wagon we’re not sure what to do with. It may bring fond memories to mind or take us to a place of regret or pain. Either way, it strikes emotion in us as we enter a new chapter of our lives, ready or not.
The heavenly inheritance is much different. It is a treasure that never grows old or needs a new coat of paint. It is the hope and salvation offered to all of us by Christ Jesus. As believers, in times of earthly turmoil, we have assurance that what awaits us is much better than the life we will leave behind. There is no security in worldly possessions—we can’t take them with us. But we have eternal security in the relationship we have with Jesus. We walk by faith and know He is our Savior!
Let us remember God’s perfect peace and strength, surpassing anything we could have asked for. Take a moment to pray over these scriptures and be encouraged by them today:
“And we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.” 1 Peter 1:4-5 (NLT)
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going – I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:1-4, 6 (NLT)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 ESV)
We praise Your Holy Name today! We commit our lives to You, God. We know You love us despite our imperfections. We ask that You bring us into a place of new beginnings and set our feet on the rock of salvation in Christ Jesus. Give us the endurance to run our earthly race, but prepare for us a heavenly home, where we can spend all eternity with You! Thank you, Lord, for your constant faithfulness!
Everyone say, Amen!
