Louisiana Elects Pro-Life Republican As Governor

Pro-life Republican Jeff Landry was elected Governor by Louisiana voters on October 14.

Landry is the state’s former Attorney General, and won with 52% of the vote, according to the Washington Stand. He was pitted against 14 candidates from all other parties. But as Landry won the overall majority vote, he won the election. He managed to snag twice as many votes as his closest competitor, maybe because he was endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

His main competitor was Shawn Wilson, a pro-choice Democrat. Wilson was expected to win, but walked away with just 26% of the vote, suggesting life is a far more significant issue than many Democrats care to realize.

A Wake Up Call

Landry called his win “a wake-up call” and “message everyone should hear loud and clear.” He’s not just pro-life, but pro-family, anti-gender mutilation surgeries for children, and fights hard to ensure tech censorship doesn’t silence many different demographics of Americans.

“Louisiana’s future can be better than our present and our past,” Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy said of Landry’s win, “and I look forward to working with our new governor to make that happen.”
