EXCLUSIVE: ‘My Name Is … & I’m A Christian’ Trend Goes Viral On Social Media In Backlash To Pride Month

A post from Christian media influencer Jon Root went viral in early June after men realized how important it is to stand up for Biblical marriage in June.
“My name is Jon & I’m a Christian,” Root wrote on social media, along with a photograph of him and his wife. “This month I’ll be celebrating & affirming marriage as it was designed to be by God; between one man and one woman.” Root shared an image of him and his wife under the caption, prompting so many others to do the same.
The post received more than 600 reposts (at the time of writing), and is continuing to trend online as more and more men follow Root’s lead. (MORE NEWS: Seattle Mayor Appears To Blame Christians For Being Violently Attacked)
EXCLUSIVE Comment From Jon Root
“My heart behind my post to get Christians to proudly proclaim their faith in Jesus Christ, while affirming God’s design for marriage, is to combat a month filled with anti-God propaganda. Marriage was created and established and defined by God. We don’t get to redefine it. Biological sex was defined by God and he knit us in our mother’s wounds. We don’t get to decide what biological sex we are. Pride month is something that unfortunately has been accepted by those on the political right, left, and center. It’s important to give people the truth, which the Bible says, will set them free. So many people are caught up in sexual sin and finding their identity in their sexuality – that’s incredibly sad,” Root told Million Voices in an exclusive comment. (FOLLOW JON ROOT ON X)
“It’s been incredibly uplifting to see thousands of people respond to my post with beautiful pictures of them and their spouse, proclaiming their faith in Jesus Christ and telling the world that marriage is truly between one man and one woman. I don’t see this as just some silly copycat campaign. I think this has the ability to make a huge difference in the online space and create conversations that hopefully lead more people to Christ during pride month
Reclaiming June
For many years, June was referred to in the mainstream corporate news media as “Pride” month, when we’re all told to celebrate a small minority of people’s sexual preferences. Most people don’t want to talk about other people’s private lives, let alone spend a month celebrating it, so many independent media leaders are reclaiming this time for all people.
Despite Root not mentioning anything about “Pride” month in his post, he was met with a handful of instances of vitriolic hate — so much so that we won’t be sharing the comments in this post. Follow Jon Root on social media by clicking here.
“It’s been incredible to watch this trend of Christian married couples (& a few singles) proudly proclaiming their faith & affirming God’s design for marriage over the last few days,” Root wrote on June 3, sharing a screen recording of all those who shared their own version of the post. Major Corporations Bail On “Pride” Month
Twelve NFL teams are shunning “Pride” in 2025, including:
- Baltimore Ravens
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Cleveland Browns
- Dallas Cowboys
- Indianapolis Colts
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Las Vegas Raiders
- New Orleans Saints
- New York Jets
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Seattle Seahawks
- Tennessee Titans
In 2024, only nine teams opted out of trying to pander to “Pride,” showing a significant increase in just one year. “The resistance is strong and continues to get stronger, and it’s a beautiful thing to witness,” said the Daily Caller’s Andrew Powell. Shops like Target have also failed to display their typical rainbow-clad section for “Pride,” month, according to reports. Instead, the corporate giant is allegedly focused on pro-USA products ahead of July 4th weekend.

Keep Acting Local
Politicians you elect in your city, county, and state usually have a greater impact on your daily life than anyone in the federal government. During “off-years,” these local races send ripple effects throughout American communities. It is up to you to shape them.
It seems like every time we at Million Voices speak to lawmakers and their teams, they all tell us the same thing: if just 10 people in their district write letters about issues that matter to them, elected officials know they have a serious crisis on their hands. A thousand people could message that same lawmaker via email or social media, and it would mean nothing. But hand-written, or even printed and signed letters, will make your politicians take action (if they really care about your vote, that is).
Contacting your representatives should be easy, but there are myriad ways they can ignore your calls to action. That’s where we come in.
Yes, Million Voices helps you with voter guides. Yes, we send letters from YOU directly to your elected officials because it’s the only way to guarantee they’ll listen to you. Yes, we publish data, articles, text messages, and help bridge the gap between education and civic action. But what do you want? Tell us today.
We want to make YOU the hero of our American story by giving you the tools you need to make a difference, from your local, state, all the way up to the federal level.
Join us in our mission to advocate for religious freedom, support fair and secure elections, and uphold the values that this great nation was built upon. Tell us what you want from the next four years, and we will fight to make it a reality … again!
