Judge James D. Bates recently issued a powerful final order. He dismissed the city’s lawsuit against Dad’s Place with prejudice. This historic ruling ends the city’s three-year attack.

Because of this decision, Dad’s Place can continue its shelter ministry. They are now free from the city’s unlawful and unconstitutional interference. We praise God for this incredible victory during Holy Week.

This triumph sends a clear message to government officials everywhere. You cannot trample on the First Amendment rights of faithful Americans. The Constitution protects our right to live out our beliefs. Religious exercise deserves the absolute highest protection under the law. Serving the most vulnerable is a core part of our faith. We must boldly protect ministries that do the Lord’s work.

Even though this civil case is resolved, the fight continues. Pastor Avell still faces a pending appeal for his criminal conviction. We must continue to pray for his ministry and legal team. We must never surrender our right to worship and serve. Let us boldly speak truth to power in our communities. Stand strong and defend the values that built this great nation.
