Neither man has announced a 2028 campaign, and Vance has publicly downplayed the speculation, telling reporters he has little interest in discussing a run more than two years away. Still, the tightening race shows how much can change in national politics within a matter of months.

Rubio’s rise tracks closely with his growing national profile as secretary of state, particularly on foreign policy matters. Vance, meanwhile, continues to draw strong support from younger conservative voters, even as older Republicans increasingly favor Rubio.
