Releasing the Past to Receive God’s Future

Feb 13, 2024

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25).

Our transformation in Christ is a commitment to change and a continual journey with Him as our guide. To truly honor God, we must release the past, lay everything at His feet, and allow Him to reshape us to be more like Jesus. “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

We rejoice in the victory Jesus secured us through His death and resurrection. But even after salvation, there is a chance of falling back into old habits and once again surrounding ourselves with people and things that are toxic to our spirits. We must replace old patterns with new, developing biblically sound behaviors that improve our lives and our relationship with Jesus. This won’t happen overnight, but with prayer and persistence, we can be victorious. As we grow in our faith and align with God’s will, we realize that His ways are better than ours. There will always be challenges, but He is with us to support us in our walk with Him.

Your Call to Action

Embrace the fullness of God’s love by seeking Him in prayer daily and getting into His Word. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and actions and walk boldly into the future God has planned for you. Join a community of faith. Support and inspire one another to grow in grace.

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

“Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy” (Ephesians 4:23-24).

Prayer

Father God, we lift Your name on high! Be with us on our daily walk with You. Keep us on the right path. Help us find good Christian friends who support and inspire us to improve. Let us put away old habits and create new ones that are pleasing to You. In Your name, we pray, Amen!

A Comforting Closure

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
