Releasing the Past to Receive God’s Future
Our transformation in Christ is a commitment to change and a continual journey with Him as our guide. To truly honor God, we must release the past, lay everything at His feet, and allow Him to reshape us to be more like Jesus. “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
We rejoice in the victory Jesus secured us through His death and resurrection. But even after salvation, there is a chance of falling back into old habits and once again surrounding ourselves with people and things that are toxic to our spirits. We must replace old patterns with new, developing biblically sound behaviors that improve our lives and our relationship with Jesus. This won’t happen overnight, but with prayer and persistence, we can be victorious. As we grow in our faith and align with God’s will, we realize that His ways are better than ours. There will always be challenges, but He is with us to support us in our walk with Him.
