Secret Service Open Fire During Attempted Carjacking

President Joe Biden’s Secret Service agents opened fire at individuals attempting to carjack an SUV in Washington D.C., Sunday night.

Secret Service were in the Georgetown neighborhood of the capital protecting Biden’s granddaughter, Naomi Biden when they saw three people breaking into an unmarked government vehicle, according to MxM News. Shots were fired at the alleged carjackers, but no injuries were reported.

Washington D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department is facing severe staffing shortages and budget cuts, limiting law enforcement throughout the city. Residents have experienced a significant surge in violent crime throughout the last several years. Homicides, thefts, and carjackings have all increased, and violent crime has risen 40% overall in the last 12 months.
